2012 — A Year of Travelling

As part of the “big year” for Janet's 50th birthday we went on a tour round China in September — this photo shows Shanghai at night

It was an exhausting tour, but showed us as many different aspects of China as could be crammed in to two weeks — this photo shows a cormorant fisherman on the Li River near Guilin

In November we went to stay in our “usual” cottage in the Peak District and took the opportunity to go to see Spurs play away at Manchester City (this and the following photo were taken on Andy's low-tech mobile phone, so we apologise for their lower quality)

While we were in the Peak District we went for a long walk round the dams in Derwent Valley — this is Derwent Dam, where the Dambusters practiced for their mission during WW II

It was getting dark by the time we got back to Derwent Dam

Andy treated Janet to a lovely Rukka motorcycling jacket for Christmas

We decided to have a quiet New Year's Eve celebration at home, and successfully completed the “Chilli Vodka challenge” that Janet's brother and family had given us for Christmas
