A Wet Week in the Peak District, June 2011
The weather was slightly better on Thursday, so we decided to walk the whole length of the Monsal Trail, a former railway line converted into a bridleway
The first of several tunnels, many of which have only recently been re-opened, avoiding the need for lengthy detours
(and it's raining again!)
Which way do we go now?
Another tunnel—this one only re-opened a few weeks before our trip
Cressbrook Mill
The final tunnel on the Monsal Trail
The vistas open out for the last couple of miles of the trail
Bakewell Station
It's the end of the trail, but we still need to walk back to Bakewell to catch the bus home
