2010—The Year That Was
After our return from Cornwall Andy tried out the new CBF1000. He felt that it was better in some ways than his old CBF, but certainly less suited to his build in other ways
Andy was, perhaps inevitably, looking round at other slightly more powerful bikes now that Janet had her FZ1. It also seemed somewhat less likely than before that we'd be going on really long trips, partly because the CBF hadn't proved quite as comfortable as Andy had hoped, and partly because Janet's new ride signalled a slight change in direction. He saw a Speed Triple going for a good price at our dealers, and they came up with a good price to change, so Andy took one out for a test ride . . .
. . . and bought one! Andy managed over 300 miles on his new bike before the weather turned, but then roadsalt started to be spread on the road, meaning that the bike retreated to our garage
We headed off for a winter trip to the Peak District in late November, but hadn't expected it to be quite so wintry!
Even walking was a challenge
We returned home from the Peak District and hoped that the weather would soon moderate so that Andy could ride his new bike. Instead we had a great deal more snow than we normally expect in our coastal location (this picture was taken in our back garden) and biking was put on hold again
Christmas Day was spent in Torquay, Devon, where it was cold, but there was no snow
We were invited to spend the New Year break with friends in a very swish apartment near Canary Wharf, London
A New Year's Eve visit to the Tate Modern—always an interesting, and sometimes slightly bewildering, experience!
